Previous version of Bylaws

Summary of changes needing approval:

1.            We defined the processes for filling vacancies in BOD positions.  We requested information from other Societies and modeled our changes on what has worked for them.

2.            We revised the membership of the BOD to allow for more Delegates at Large.

3.            We increased the Chapter President term to two years to be consistent with other offices.

4.            We added the President as Delegate and defined when he/she would attend the House as a voting member.

5.            We defined what will happen if a member is nominated for more than one office and also clarified what will happen if a BOD member is nominated for another office while their term has not been ompleted.

6.            We stated that a nominee for President must have served on the BOD. This is so the business of the Society is led by a member experienced in its processes.

7.            We have added a Conflict of Interest statement requirement.

8.            We have added provisions for electronic voting.

9.            We have slightly changed the language regarding membership chapters. This allows non- members of the Society (e.g., patients and students) to have specialty chapters.

10.            We have corrected a number of grammatical mistakes and have made language consistent

• Cancellations must be received by 4/15/12 for full refund. After 4/15/12, a $100 cancellation fee will be applied.
• If you need electricity for your booth, please complete this form from the hotel and return directly to them.  CSRC does not arrange for electrical.
• Specific placement in the vendor exhibit hall will not be completed until the day of check in.  For questions, contact Becky Norris-Lynn. Placement is determined based on sponsorship, contract receipt date, and competition.
• Name badges will be on your table.  If your name is not on the contract, we will need to collect $135 for additional badge and print your name badge while you wait.  Exhibitor set up is from 1p-4p Wednesday.
• Name badges must be worn at all times.
• We are asking all vendors to participate in the evening entertainment rather than host Hospitality Suites at the hotel.  We have had problems with overcrowding and noise complaints from the hotel.  PLEASE plan on participating in the planned
  events which are being finalized.
• Ship any booth equipment/supplies to:  Beaver Run Resort, 620 Village, Rd, Breckenridge. CO 80424. Identify on package –  CSRC Event – May 2, 2012. Displays cannot arrive prior to April 25th due to other events.

Hotel Information

The conference will be at the Beaver Run Resort.  The room rates will vary based on hotel rooms vs condominiums. Detailed information on lodging is posted here and the shipping address for all packages will be on your confirmation letter.

STEP ONE:

The 9Health Fair is asking all volunteers to sign up through their website. This will insure that you are staffed at a location that is offering the Lung Function screening and it also allows the volunteer coordinators to efficiently manage all the volunteers at that site. Sign up only takes a few moments. At the end of the process, you will create an account for convenient access in the future.

• “Are You a Medical Volunteer?”:  YES
• “Credentials”:  You will choose your credentials here (RT etc)
• “Screenings That I am Qualified and Would Like to Perform”:  You will choose the screening you wish to perform (Lung Function Screening)
• In the next step, please choose the first option for volunteering: “Volunteer at a health fair on the day or days of the event”

Complete the remaining steps, you will receive a confirmation email and will be contacted by a volunteer coordinator as soon as possible to confirm your position

Get your teams together for a little competition mixed with a lot of fun. Teams of 4 will compete throughout the conference to accumulate points. Events will test your speed and accuracy of the assembly and application of basic respiratory equipment. Anyone in the industry should be able to participate. The teams with the highest number of points at the end of the conference will win prizes. Events will be held during the first few minutes of each exhibit session. Register here by April 25, 2012.

Sputum Bowl

The deadline to sign up your sputum bowl team is April 15, 2012. You know you can beat those other therapists…go ahead, get a team together! The winners (one student team and one therapist team) will receive $1000 per team to attend the 2012 National Competition in New Orleans!  Register your team with Mike McDonald.. 

Poster Presentations Wanted!!!!

Please share your projects and research. If you’ve improved patient care or any processes, we’d love to hear about it! You know you are doing it already!!  Bring any poster presentations to be displayed throughout the conference. Posters will be placed on a bulletin board in the common area. Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament to benefit Champ Camp

Try your luck at the tables or just mingle and observe.  Proceeds from tournament will benefit Champ Camp, Colorado’s annual camp for kids with asthma.  More details to be posted soon!

Joe Walsh, a close friend and advocate of the CSRC lost his 6 year battle against Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis on Monday, March 26, 2012.  As most of you know this disease still has no known cause and no satisfactory treatment to stop its rapid progression.  In most cases a lung transplant is a necessity.

After his diagnosis Joe had become a strong advocate to promote the awareness of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and dedicated his life to the further study and research of this devastating disease and to educate patients sharing the same diagnosis.  He served as the co-chair of the Thomas Petty Moving Mountains Lung Conference and had been in daily contact with other patients that use his outgoing drive to help make their day to day struggles easier to manage.

Joe recently received a lung transplant at Cleveland Medical Center, but infection complicated his recovery.  After a valiant battle, he went peacefully with his family by his side.   If you would like to make a financial donation in Joe’s honor to support the causes he most believed in please mail a check to the following address:
